Trump spoke after American media published fragments from the book of John Bolton called “Room where it happened: A memory of the White House”, which will be released by the end of the month. Trump referred to Bolton's accusations in the context of his policy towards China and other countries.
During a telephone call on FOX television, Trump told Bolton that no US president has ever treated China and Russia in such a harsh way to date”.
Regarding Bolton's claims, Trump also spoke of the Wall Street Journal, where he defended the American administration's policy towards China, rejecting claims that it provides support to this country in the context of the Uygur issue.
Regarding the claim that he gave support to Chinese President Xi Yiping for the formation of concentration camps in Xinjiang's autonomous Wygur region, Trump said that was not true, proving that he just passed the law to impose sanctions on China today.
“Bolton is a liar. Everyone in the White House hates it. He was never loved and appreciated. As we worked with him, our respect for him was less and less. I personally thought he was crazy”, Trump said.
The Trump administration launched a trial yesterday to prevent the publication of John Bolton's book, and the indictment says that the book “contains confidential state information, whose publication could jeopardise national security”.
On the other hand, Bolton's lawyer, Chuck Cooper, said his client has been working closely with experts from the White House National Security Council for months to avoid leaking confidential information.
