The lake is located about five kilometers southeast of Kosovo's capital, Pristina. Close by is Hyvalia, which is almost on the banks of the lake. On the south coast of the reservoir crosses the M25.2 road that connects Pristina and Gjilan. The earth around the lake is a hilly area with many forests.
At full capacity, the lake is five miles [3.5 km] long and 500m wide. The maximum depth is 30m, and it has a total volume of 26 million cubic metres of water. The water - collecting area of the lake is 109 km2 (42 sq m). In February 2014, the water level was in an alarming state as a result of dry winter.

Badovci Lake is also important for the economy of surrounding villages. It is often visited by fishermen, and during the summer, there are people who stop here for a little vacation.
