One Dead, 18 Injured by Earthquake in Turkey

As a consequence of the 5.7-magnitude earthquake that hit Turkey's eastern province of Bingol, one person has lost his life and another 18 have been injured, reports Anadolu Agency (AA), Klen Kosova.
Disaster and Emergency Management Authority said the earthquake occurred this afternoon at 5:24 in the Karlova province.
province authorities Bingol announced that in the village of Kaynarpinar, the two surveillance towers belonging to the police station were knocked down and three village guards were wounded.
Bingol's governorate announced that a total of seven people, including a village guard, were rescued from ruins while efforts are continuing to save three other people, including a village guard.
It was later confirmed by the authorities that the village guard, who had been trapped under ruins in Kaynarpinar, lost his life.
Meanwhile, Turkey's vice president, Fuat Oktay, Interior Affairs Minister Süleyman Soylu and Environment and Urbanisation Minister Murat Kurum arrived in the earthquake-hit province for monitoring relief efforts.
Oktay said 18 people were injured by the quakes, but added that none of them are in critical health condition.
The quake partially damaged 10 houses in the villages of Elmali and Dinabay of Yedisu province.
According to the disaster agency, at least 33 other quakes have been recorded after the earthquake.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that 26 vehicles and a healthcare staff comprised of 109 people have been sent to the region, as well as two military aircraft are on alert if there is any further assistance needed.
