VV wants to discuss elections in Podujevo, aka tells them they are appointed by president

At today's assembly of the Central Election Commission, the Vetevendosje Movement has called for the day to introduce discussion about holding local elections in Podujevo, which was postponed due to Coronavirus' pandemic, reports Online Economy.

Sami Kurteshi of the Vetevendosje Movement asked President Valdete Daka to put the subject of elections in Podujevo in order. He said the time has come for elections in Podujevo, so he has sought to clarify about holding them.

So far we haven't had such points on the agenda. It's the President's exclusive authority to announce elections in Podujevo. The competent decide when these choices will be held. Sami Kurteshi, estimated it's time to discuss the elections, since according to him, they have been postponed indefinitely.

We are all political, there is a need to say politicisation because we are all political representatives. As far as the election postponed, of course we have made the right decision, but under the law, we have postponed elections without a specific date. This is a concession and it has not been allowed to be postponed indefinitely. It is time for recommendations to set the date”, Kurteshi said.

While Daka, alluding to issues raised by Kurteshi, said the elections were postponed by the president, not by the CEC, so according to her, the CEC cannot set their own date.

We don't make decisions about elections, nor do we announce them”, Daka said.

Sami Hamiti of the Democratic League of Kosovo also agreed with Daka not to discuss the election date after he said, does not decide the CEC.

Daka said that many pandemic measures remain in force and the pandemic is not over.

The CEC on this has suspended two political parties because they have not updated annual data.

Yll Buleskaj from the Office for Registeration of Political Partys and Certificates said the CEC is relying on the electoral order for the registration and action of political parties has given them 20 days to hand over the revised annual data.

“The CEC, based on the electoral rule of registering and acting political parties, has given them 20 days to hand in the revised annual data. If the required changes are not delivered within the pre-term, the next step of the CEC is deregulation of these political parties. These political parties have 24 hours to submit their evental complaint to the Election Panel for Ances and Parashtre”, he said.

At this meeting it was announced that out of 48 registered political parties, only one political party has not delivered the annual spending report in the initial term.
