The crisis created by Coronavirus' pandemic in Kosovo's economy has left many private sector workers without jobs, moving to an increase in unemployment rates. The chairman of the Union of Independent Trade Unions of Kosovo (BSPK), Avni Aydin, in an interview for Online Economics has said unemployment in Kosovo has always been pronounced, but now with the spread of Coronavirus can grow 5 to 10 %s.
There's been some kind of disproportionship with us earlier, but even now I consider that even a 5% or 10% could charge this situation a little bit longer until they restart because our businesses need workers”
Aydin says there can be no reduction in unemployment at the time of pandemic. According to him, it takes at least six months to know how many percent have lost their jobs and how much unemployment has risen so far.. “... for me to say such a saying should be done and the analysis cannot be known within the week or month, we can know exactly for six months how many percent we've lost our jobs and what is unemployment so far”. Days earlier Kosovo's incumbent Minister of Finance Besnik Bislimi said he lowered unemployment in Kosovo by 6.6 per cent, while 32 377 people in Kosovo have applied to seek work.
