The study, published today in the European Heart Journal, reveals that heart - problems males have a tendency to have a higher concentration of specific enzymes called ACE2 in the blood, compared to women, writes abcnews. al
The high concentrations of ACE2 may increase the vulnerability to coronarys, the authors of the study suggest. However, for the study's conclusions to be conducted on a basis, an ongoing search is needed.
At a press conference, the authors of the study said: “ACE2 is a receptor on the cell's surface. It connects with the coronary and allows it to enter and infect healthy cells once it has been modified by another protein on the cell's surface. High ACE2 levels are present in the lungs and are therefore thought to play a crucial role in the progress of lung disorders associated with COVID-19. ”
Blood samples from 1,485 men and 537 women with heart problems from 11 European countries have been taken in this study.
