Compared to a year earlier, gross domestic production in Europe's largest economy fell by 2.3 percent from January to March, after 0.4 percent growth in the previous three months, according to data published by the Federal Statistics Office, Reuters reports.
Meanwhile, the Economy Ministry has said on Friday that the decline in rites will accelerate in the current quarter.
Analysts had predicted 2.2 per cent economic contraction in the quarter-month report, and a 2 per cent contraction in the report over the years.
Germany has so far recorded about 175 thousand affected by the Coronavirus of about 8,000 deaths.
