However, after the independent investigation of the case, it turned out that the rumor had been spread by India Today, an Indian news newspaper, which is very close to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
According to the India Today report, a message with a video clip was rolling on Facebook, Twitter and Whatsapp claiming that American authorities had arrested Dr. Charles Lieber, Professor Harvard, for “the creation of the coronary and the sale of it to China”, sends Periscope from WeeklyBlitz.
Facebook users such as “Alvrez” and “Meera Singh” had posted the video with the description “The U.S. has just discovered the man who produced and sold the coronavirus to China, head of the chemistry and biology department at Harvard University.
This claim has been made viral on Facebook and Twitter, and has finally reached Kosovo with some media that have spread it without confirming it. Of course Periscope was careful.
In January, Harvard professor Charles Lieber was charged with slandering US federal authorities about payments allegedly received from Wuhan University.
Considering that the coronavirus first appeared in Wuhan, this caused Lieber's apparent connections to the Chinese city to fill the internet with rumors that he was actually pleased to create the virus.
In a statement, supported by the Wuhan Institute for Virology, “that internet allegations” had caused major damage to Scient staff. ”
The institute has been accused of artificially replacing “x1> coronaryus in one of its labs, without any evidence.
In the end, however, it turns out that the entire video was false.
The doctor was under arrest, but not on April 5th as the video claimed, but on January.
He was accused of conflict of interest, not of coronary. /Periscope
