Macron promises Kurti increased France's role in Kosovo- Serbia

Last night, incumbent Prime Minister Albin Kurti had a telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron.

First, Kurti thanked the French president and government for supporting France and the European Union in the fight against Kosovo COVID-19. The European assistance allocated for Kosovo started with 5m euros and will have seized the total value of 68m euros. Kurti briefed President Macro on measures taken by the government and the results. The battle against the COVIID-19 virus remains the government's direct priority in office.

Kurti also thanked President Macron for the French-German joint statement on the no-confidence motion in current conditions. Kurti underlined that the emptiness created by this motion cannot be filled, nor can the political crisis be overcome, except through new elections, the only legitimate and legal way to bring a new government to life.

Any further efforts to produce any government in the current state of things will be passed through unconstitutional ways. New political elections are possible only after the solution to the health crisis.

For his part, the French president voiced approval for dealing with the Kosovo government's health crisis.

Later, the French president and prime minister spoke of dialogue and relevant engagement for a real preparation and a true participation of the parties in this dialogue. In this prospect, President Macron expressed his support for the resumption of the flow of goods between Kosovo and Serbia. He promised to boost France's role and its own to facilitate dialogue. This will, according to him, be the goal of the Paris summit for Kosovo-Serbia relations, the summit organised under the direction of France and Germany, with the European Union once the right conditions are created.

Acting Prime Minister Kurti promised, on the one hand, that Europe will never be surprised, because his government sees effective implementation of reciprocity in the implementation of what is contained in the Brussels accords, and also the realisation of promises made before voters. On the other hand, he underlined the fact that the effectiveness of the dialogue depends on Europe's participation. Europe cannot be replaced by another continent, nor can France be replaced by any other country. Europe is both the environment and the prospect of normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
