Miroslav Lajcak will start consultations this week to focus on the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, European Foreign Affairs spokesman Peter Stano said today.
The mandate of the new EU representative is to achieve a comprehensive normalisation of relations between Serbia and Kosovo, meaning the resumption of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina,” Stano said in Brussels.
During Lajcak's appointment as the new EU Special Representative, it was stressed that his mandate would mainly be linked to the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.
EU Foreign Minister Josep Borrell, questioned by Tanjug about Lajcak's first duties, said he would help him at the launch and by paying due attention to the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.
I said that it was one of my priorities and things to improve. We may not have solved the Israeli-Palestinian problem, but we should be able to solve the problem in our immediate neighborhood,” said Borrell.
