The chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, has declared that the Battle of Kostunica 21 years ago, marks the biggest victory of the Kosovo Liberation Army and marks the beginning of Kosovo's liberation.
He has stressed that combating the border between Kosovo and Albania on April 9, 1999, is one of the most important dates in Kosovo's war history calendar.
This battle is one of the bloodiest and most glorious KLA battles, opened an important chapter of KLA victories, and victory in this battle is one of the greatest points of our freedom struggle. Kostare's battle was the culmination of a full life built on freedom sacrifice and marked efforts for the statehood of Kosovo”, Mustafa has said.
He has praised the fall in this battle and throughout Kosovo, saying that the work of Agim Ramadan, Sali Cekaj, Abbas Thaci, Xhemajl Fetah, but also the work of all heroes and martyrs, should serve as our guide to the construction and development of the state of Kosovo and our membership in Euro-Atlantic integration.
The “Triumfi of these fighters from all over Kosovo, united in Brigade 138, whose top was Commander Agim Ramadani, caused the nearly centenarian wall placed between Kosovo and Albania to collapse. In crucial turns through their commitment, they at no moment shared the refusal of oppression and freedom efforts”, Mustafa has indicated.
