Tarifa 100 % with economic and political effects

The 100 per cent tax effects on goods in Serbia and Bosnia are being considered by the Kosovo Afarism Oda to be in the growth of local production and product quality, as well as in the reduction of imports from Serbia to large, while opposition parties say the tariff had political and economic effect. And until Prime Minister Albin Kurti has predicted since March 15th the removal of the tax in part, economy connoisseurs say that for more than a year since the tariff was imposed, there was no increase in exports, but there were price hikes for citizen basket products.
Kosovo's Oda of Afarism Board Chairman Skender Krasniqi says of Kosovo Press, that the effects following the set up of the fee are good and are great, while demanding that the government replace the tax with reciprocity.
Krasniqi says import from Serbia has dropped from 450m euros to about 5m euros, until it has asked the new government to have better co-operation with businesses.
The first <x0 effect is on increasing quality of products that now come from the European Union, as well as other countries in the region besides Serbia. The second is with the growth of local production, which at the moment we still don't have precise statistics about how much domestic production has grown, but there are increases in production, and businesses are generally satisfied. Citizens too have begun to consume more local products. Eventually, Kosovo, which has been the biggest importer from Serbia, has also convinced citizens, but businesses that they can without Serbian products and can develop and even invest in local production”, Krasniqi stressed.
Even former Trade and Industry Minister Andrew Shala says of Kosova Preis that in addition to political effects, the tariff has marked positive achievements in the country's economy as well.
Parliamentary Commission Chairman for Economy Shala insists that this move imposed by the past government should not be taken away unless the reasons they have forced them to take such a move are eliminated.
According to him, the position of the Parliamentary Initiative Group is that unless the reasons that have forced it are eliminated, then the Government of Kosovo will make such a decision, this move will continue to remain in force.
Besides the political effects this measure has had, 10 percent then 100 percent, normally there have been economic effects on our country's economy. And what's been going on in the local economy is that it directly influenced local producers. Local productivity has increased, local product consumption has increased by Kosovo citizens. So, in addition to the political effects, the economic effect has also been remarkable following the application and deployment of this measure”, Shala says.
The chief of the PDK parliamentary group, Bedri Hamza, who says the fee has an economic and political effect.
Hamza says the tariff has been imposed as a result of Serbia's problems with actions towards Kosovo, for not apologizing, not to process war damage, problems in attracting recognitions and obstacles to membership in various international institutions.
“Taxa has both political and state and economic effect. Therefore, the tax has been the consequence, it has been the cause, and for this Serbia must first be corrected by its actions, which it is doing to hurt Kosovo. So we will work jointly for the future of the region, for the future of Kosovo and for the future of the two countries”, Hamza declares.
And another way, economics expert Safet Gerjaliu, who says the tariff has not achieved results in Kosovo's economy, except the benefits some Kosovo businessmen have had, have suffered citizens with price hikes.
Gerjaliu says it is time for more work to be done in the conscious campaign, to have support from the marketing and production sector of local products, and not to be such a move, which has truly isolated Kosovo, the comfort and today reports with international friends are more vulnerable than ever.
I was willing to count the positive effects and say that we have increased exports, say we have a decrease in imports, say we have a reduction in inflation, lowering citizen basket or indicator prices that our products are infiltrated in different countries, but all these indicators don't exist. It must be understood that a state's economy does not keep up with cakes and potatoes, requires a horizontal level of important strategic products if we think Kosovo's production is deerminative for social development and stability. If someone has benefited from the tariff, we have several producers who have extended production to Kosovo and who have raised the price for citizens”, Gerjaliu says.
The owner of the factory for color production for the walls “, lux”, Ramiz Gashi, saying the government must be more prominent, stresses that at this period it has not seen a major effect on its business, but does not rule out the possibility of not having had any other firms effect.
Gashi says his company had an increase in production circulation by up to 30 per cent compared to a year ago, but that was not due to the tax, but thanks to continued exports to Germany.
It didn't affect us positively, but it didn't even bother us. However, the tax has reached its goal... If the government makes a decision and finds it reasonable to remove the tax, the government should be offered to producers a little closer. Because Serbia's government has the interest to return the market it had. Serbia's government will do everything and favour its producers in various forms. So it won't be too easy for us to afford it, knowing that they have better conditions than we as producers. So our government should be a little more of an opening in this case and offer us conditions like Serbia offers to its producers”, Gashi claims.
Otherwise, in November 2018, the Haradinaj government had made a decision to impose a tax on goods of Serbia and Bosnia, initially with 10 per cent, then 100 per cent. While the new prime minister, Albin Kurti with his partner, had promised they would remove the tax after setting reciprocity, but Prime Minister Kurti on Thursday afternoon has proposed removing the fee in part, where during the next week, we will make decisions -- as early as March 15, 2020, the fee for the first subject imported by Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina will be removed.
Also, according to the prime minister's report, if the Serbian side testifies to literal devotion in stopping the non-friendly campaign and vows to quickly remove non-tariff barriers with Kosovo, then starting in April 1st 2020, the Kosovo government will completely lift the fee for imports from Serbia and BiH for a period of 90 days.
