Albanian police said on Friday they have taken action to close the illegal activities of the game of fate.
The police action took place a year after Albanian authorities banned such activities.
More than 1,500 police took part in the operation, which took place in Tirana and seven other cities, until the European League football matches took place Thursday evening.
Through a statement the police said they arrested 115 people and 26 others are being investigated.
“They are owners, managers or employees of these bookies. Police also confiscated 140,000 euros and hundreds of other computers and electronic equipment”, it is said in the police report.
In 2018, Albania's parliament voted to remove lucky games from the inhabited areas.
The casinos are now allowed only in several large hotels.
However, many such activities have continued to function in secret.
The websites of online foreign-run betting are also illegal in Albania's cities.
