Serbia's ambassador to the United States, Marko Djuric, took office five days ago.
In an interview for Radio Television of Serbia, he has said he believes in implementing Washington's agreement and good co-operation with the new US administration in finding a solution for Kosovo.
I believe it's a new beginning for America and a new opportunity for us too, and that much depends on how much we're going to work on and how much we're going to try”, he said.
According to him, the new team of Serbian ambassadors to Washington aims to work 24 hours a day, seven days a week to spread the image and, as he said, Serbia's “history in the most positive way in the United States”.
Otherwise, media in Serbia reported on the US House of Representatives Foreign Policy Committee session. A.s, in which former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and Chairman Eliot Engel said Serbia should not stop the process of developing Kosovo's citizenship, because Kosovo is independent and Serbia will not.
“Eliot Engel lost the election, even within his party. Albania's lobi was heavily based on supporting certain views he expressed in the previous period. Serbia's goal in the coming period is to have a Eliot Engel among congressers, senators, prominent American politicians”, he said.
