The AKI chief's dismissal backstage from the Osmani Hoti: The decision was sent after the Constitution brought down Government

Kreshnik Gashi has agreed to step down from the position of Kosovo Agency for Intelligence chief a few days after, with long-missed co-operation, it was asked by Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti and President Vjosa Osmani's incumbent. A safe source has told of Gashi's backstages of release from [...]

A secure source has told of Gashi's backstages of release from office for Gazeta Express. According to this source, Prime Minister Hoti had repeatedly asked Gashi to ask for his own release or to resign.

“Never has he accepted the blackmail of Hoti, who has asked the chief of AKI to ask for his release or offer resignation”, this source has said.

After he had agreed to obey the prime minister's request, according to the same source, Hoti and Osman had decided to fire Gashi from office without giving any excuses.

The acting head of Intelligence was dismissed under suspicious circumstances. As Gazeta Express's source says, his dismissal was made totally unusual, and the dismissal decision was sent to Gashi only after the Constitutional Court's conviction was declared, which brought down Government, considering it constitutionally elected.

There are two elements worth handling about the decision. First, which was submitted to the Constitutional Court after the ruling, the seal of submission to the ZKM dates December 22nd, as well as the signing of the decision on the 17th, when Vjosa Osmani was physically on official visit to Albania. While issue of office is made after the decision was accepted written”, this source says.

President Vjosa Osmani's post had denounced her in early December AKI to the Prosecutor, for, as it were, interventions in the “Secret” and “top secret” in the Presidency safe. But Gazeta Express's source says this reasoning has been deliberate.

“The reasons for the safe case were intentional. In such cases protection of information from foreign organisations is a legal obligation”, this source says.

He adds that the AKI official who had been in the Presidency, “has had access to those documents that day”.

“How the situation has been clarified, the official has returned to the office. That everything has been okay has confirmed the Special Prosecutor of Kosovo”, this source says.

The prime minister's office has confirmed that the AKI chief has already accepted the decision and left.

“has accepted the decision to release”, Prime Minister Ardita Dushi's chief of staff said on Tuesday.

However, the superficial procedure of firing the AKI director took place as the law envisions, through co-ordination between the president and the prime minister.

Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti and President Vjosa Osmani's task officer, following ongoing disagreements, had managed to settle the issue of Gashi's dismissal.

The presidency and Krey Prime Minister have not yet publicly indicated the reasons for Kresnik Gashi's dismissal from the position of AKI chief.

It was reported that the reason for Gashi's dismissal could be to try opening the safe with confidential documents at the Presidency, a day after chief speaker Osmani took office after Hashim Thaci's resignation.

Kreshnik Gashi was appointed head of the country's most important security body in November 2019. For his appointment, there was agreement between then Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj and former President Hashim Thaci.

Gashi's appointment to the head of intelligence had come a few days after Ramush Haradinaj had accepted the resignation of Shpend Maximus from the same position. Haradinaj had confirmed that Maximi had resigned for health reasons.
