Non-form meeting of Stabilisation and Association Council between EU, Kosovo remains

Members of the Stabilisation and Association Council at the virtual meeting have revised Kosovo's progress on its European path after publishing the 2020 European Commission's report on Kosovo.
Participants discussed key developments regarding economic criteria, financial co-operation and implementation of the 2015 Stabilisation and Association Agreement, as they welcomed Kosovo's continued strategic commitment on its European path and in dialogue with Serbia, with EU mediation.
The meeting agreed on the urgent need to accelerate reform processes, demanding increased concentration by all political actors and an effective co-ordination structure within Kosovo institutions.
Participants reiterated the importance of visa liberalisation for Kosovo citizens, while the decision on the proposal remains under consideration in the Council.
They also discussed reform priorities in rule of law and judicial reforms, respect for fundamental rights, public administration reform, economic development, education and employment.
As for the Specialised Chambers, participants praised the co-operation Kosovo authorities and the arrested showed. They agreed to the continued commitment of Kosovo institutions, in full compliance with its legal order and international obligations, with real efforts to ensure rule of law, fundamental freedoms, justice and reconciliation.
