The American will insist on making Vlora Citak presidential”

The renowned publicist Shkelzen Maliqi considers that the role of the United States of America (SHBA) is necessary in all processes occurring in Kosovo. He believes the US can also point to its role in electing the new president in Kosovo, but also in continuing dialogue between Kosovo [...]
Maliqi believes that the possibilities of exiting the current unfavourable political situation have already been discussed among political leaders in Kosovo, and it remains agreed on electing a new president or new parliamentary elections will be held in the spring.
“in some ways, Haradinaj has so far blackmailed his position in the government by being nominated for president, but I don't know if that option will pass. I do not rule out American participation in this process, they will probably insist that it be a person who is not a politician or directly associated with the structures that are now charged. Perhaps they will insist that Vlora Citaku be president”, Maliqi said of the Serbian media in Kosovo, “Kosovo Online”.
He believes it is quite certain that there will be a stalemate in dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, but that the only question is who would be guilty of blocking dialogue.
The two sides are afraid they will prove guilty, but it will be a dead race that will give up dialogue sooner. I think the dialogue will stop for a while, so it was in crisis. It will take a while for the situation to dawn, but in principle, dialogue must continue. Kosovo's “Pala will be a little more determined on several issues, that dialogue should have a form leading to the final document, or it will refuse to continue the dialogue, but they will certainly be careful”, Maliqi stressed.
Even in this case, Maliqi highlights the role of Americans, without whom dialogue will not continue.
Once again, Americans will play a leading role. We should wait until January for the dialogue to continue under new mediation, because without America, dialogue usually did not succeed”, Maliqi said.
