In common times, the Sheraton Parco de '%Medici Hotel in Rome is packed with businessmen and tourists visiting the Eternal City, but after pandemic they are being replaced by patients with COVID-19 because of overloaded hospitals.
This is among 15 Roman hotels that accept patients suffering from COVID-19, with about 800 beds, half of which are already busy.
The lack of beds in hospitals for days has caused a rush in emergency services,” explained Simona Amato, director of health services in the Lazio region.
Sheraton, who has a swimming pool near a golf course in southern Rome, has made 169 rooms available. He may accept patients with symptoms, those who are recovering, and patients with a poor condition.
Italy, the first European country to be affected by the coronary, has more than a million cases.
Italian Foreign Minister Francesco Boccia said the government had reserved 15,000 hotel beds across the country for patients with COVIDD-19.
Each room costs 30 euros a day and is paid by regional authorities. Medical assistance is available, but hotel staff don't get in touch with patients.
