Latin America and the Caribbean are experiencing the worst economic and health consequences in the world due to COVID-19 pandemic, according to the World Bank (BB), which envisions a 7.9 % decline in regional GDP in 2020.
Our “Our region is experiencing the worst economic and health consequences in the world, due to COVID-19”, BB Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean Carlos Felipe Jarallo said.
In its report, the WB notes that in Latin America and the Caribbean, the death toll is so high that in advanced economies, even more, but available resources are far more limited, reports ATS.
According to the monetary institution, social damage is huge and unemployment rates have increased markedly in the region.
Latin America and the Caribbean now registered 9 831 306 infected and 362 450 dead.
