The worst fines of between 500 and 5 thousand euros and arrests of between 3 and 18 months for those violating quarantine are sentences envisioned in the Italian government's decree. Under the decree, even countries that do not implement health protocols risk fines ranging from 400 to a thousand euros in addition to closing up business from 5 to 30 days.

Meanwhile, Italian media report that a decision by the Council of Italian Ministers is expected tomorrow to prolong the state of emergency by 31 January, which expires on October 15th.
