The sub was named “Nautilus”. That was the name that Julius Verne had put under water in the 19th century novel, entitled “20 thousand leagues under the sea”.
Later, submarine “Nautilus” broke all record resistance, distance and navigation speed during the years in service.
Four years after it was launched for the first time, using sonar and other electronic instruments, “Nautilus” sailed under the polar ice layer, becoming the first floating vessel to reach the North Pole underwater.
