For America, Israel, Switzerland, Ulysses is a very important individual because they have entrusted him to State Police. He trains the most powerful police squad in the world like American SWAT, or FBI.
Gjonaj is a citizen of America and Switzerland, years ago he has sought to be equipped with Albanian passports, but for the Albanian state the international instructor is a common citizen.
Ulysses' story is unusual. He abandoned medicine for police service.
“Nisa medical studies in Kosovo, then emigrated to America with my family, even there resumes school as a medical assistant. I happen to meet two police officers, and when I see my physical, they advised me to visit police school. I go there and I start studying right away, and as soon as I finish them, they give me the title as instructor”, Ulyses tells “Type Channel”.
The Albanian international instructor has surprised not only America but also Europe.
“in Europe I'm the only one licensed as an instructor's instructor”, he says.
The 40-year-old works as Swat instructor, however, he always takes time to advise the Albanian police. Today he trains the category of female police, earlier he was an instructor of Renea and the group of Albanians.
Who's the most elite group you've trained?
The most elite group is S.W.A. America's T. Obviously, FBI training is special. No longer than a month, I trained 45 S.W. members. A. T-it”, says Johnaj.
In the international arena of instructors, Ulysses is represented by the Swiss passport. Despite that, his request to be a citizen of Albania is renewed today.
I've made the request at the Presidency, Prime Minister and Interior Ministry, and the answer to stay five years in Albania and make all the payments, but I have no chance and no time to stay five years here”, he says.
Its roots are from the city of Shkodra for this reason the desire is to be known as Ulyss Gjonaj, the instructor from Albania
I want to represent Albania and show the world that there are people representing the Albanian state and flag, and not always we Albanians are the ones representing other states”, Ulysses says.
Whether all Albanians dream of having a European or American passport, it seems that Ulysses' desire is very different from that of young Albanians. He wants to be a citizen of Albania for only one reason, for Albania to bend to the doors of the world police as a country producing elite people.
