Tomor Morina's confession after the release: My travel document was stopped, my British passport was stopped by court.

Northern Macedonia authorities have freed former Kosovo Liberation Army fighter Tomor Morina from custody. He was being held on warrants issued by Serbia, under suspicion that two decades ago he committed war crimes. Although Morina has returned to Kosovo, his passport is continuing to be held at the Macedonian Court [...]

More than two decades ago, as a young man, along with some friends who have been killed today, joined the Kosovo Liberation Army.

Tomor Morina served in the Dukagjini Zone and participated in many battles, but the last was the famous battle of Kosare.

After the war he migrated to the United Kingdom, where he also built his family life, becoming a citizen there.

However, he visited Kosovo, and his last time here was not uncommon.

As he was heading to the neighbouring state capital, he was banned from North Macedonia's authority, which implemented a warrant issued by Interpol at Serbia's request.

During his conversation with Teuta Gashi, in the 45/45 interview, Morina explains in detail the case of how it was stopped there.

I've come from London, I live in England, I've come on vacation, I've been here a few days, and I've gone to get a friend at Skopje Airport who came from Sweden, and with another friend we traveled, we stopped at the border point in Blace, and it's confirmed that I have papers from the Serbian state. Then the arrest began, stoppages and confirmation, and so I was sent to Skopje, to the regional police, is confirmed that I was detained by the Serbian state for alleged war crimes I committed in Gjakova in HINA. I am a citizen of Great Britain and a citizen of Kosovo, I have two citizenships.

He has been traveling constantly, has been in Macedonia before, but nothing like this has happened before.

The act for him was that he killed many people and burned houses two decades ago.

Morina's English citizenship passport continues to be the North Macedonian authorities.

“It stopped my travel document, the British passport there that the court stopped me. Now I wait, I'm in touch with lawyer Naser Rauffy, and we'll see what happens. I have nothing with Macedonia, these will be repaired through the British Embassy in Kosovo or through the lawyer in Skopje”, he says.

Morina says that while she was in custody she was treated well and in the right way. But it shows that prison conditions there are difficult and do not meet the criteria, especially for a country like North Macedonia.

Tomor Morina is a special case. He is on the list of false KLA veterans, meanwhile, issued to him by Serbia for war crimes.

He says he doesn't know why he's on a list of fake veterans, while stressing that the lists are swollen and that all the local commanders, including all members of the KLA, should be held responsible for that. I don't know why I'm on the list of fake veterans, but for the growth of the lists, it's not okay, if you haven't been in a prayer you haven't been, or if you've been at war one day or a week, you've been at war, because at war you get killed for an hour or a minute. But the flow of the list has, it's harmful to the fighters themselves, because when the list is blown, and the income for those in a bad social situation, you know after the war there have been many suicides of the KLA soldiers, they've happened because they haven't been locked up in political parties, they've had no way out, they've lived in a bad way, they've been ignored, out of all governments. I had to do more for war veterans, by reducing poverty”, he says.

Tomor Morina, who the day before was released from custody in northern Macedonia, where he was held for 20 days, says knowing he is innocent, has taken into account that he will be released, since according to him the charges have no basis.

Morina says Northern Macedonia should not issue Serbian warrants against Kosovo fighters because the KLA war has been clean. He says Serbia is guilty and that they will never leave the Albanian nation alone.
