He said an agreement after Brexit with the United Kingdom could add four or five times the trade exchange between the two states.
However, he did not elaborate on how such success would be achieved.
After a telephone conversation with Britain's new prime minister, Boris Johnson, the American president said the new leader would be wonderful. He added that trade relations between the United States and Great Britain have been hampered by United Kingdom membership in the European Union.
The American president declared that Great Britain could expect better results from trade with the United States after leaving the European Union.
The two heads of state said they would start formal negotiations as soon as possible after Great Britain leaves the European Union.
As part of the European Union, Britain has no right to sign trade agreements with other states. The UK is expected to leave the EU on October 31st, writes “BBC”
