Justice Minister Abelard Tahiri has been hosting the European Union's delegation of experts today, who are staying on a visit to Kosovo to discuss Kosovo's actions in implementing the Joint Antiterrorism Plan for the Western Balkans.
Tahiri informed the delegation of legal changes, given the change of the new Penal Code, as well as the new Code of Criminal Procedure, which already envisions judgment in the absence and extended investigation into such acts, and will help Kosovo fight these phenomena more efficiently.
These legal changes, according to him, have also enabled the establishment of the Special Department under the Constitutional Court of Pristina and the Court of Appeals, which will address special prosecutor's subjects, proving the dedication and determination of institutions for the uncompetitive fight against organised crime and terrorism.
Under the Joint Plan, Tahiri cited the closed action on April 19th, which sent 110 Kosovo citizens back to Kosovo from Syria. He assured the European Union delegation that all suspects will be brought to justice, while victims will continue their rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
“Being members of the Global Alliance Against I The SIS, Kosovo institutions will continue to be determined to fulfil its obligations. It will be worked that the name of the Republic of Kosovo is not linked in any form to the war under way in Syria”, Tahiri said.
The minister also pledged effective implementation of the Joint Antiterrorism Plan for the Western Balkans, to co-operate closely with all countries of the region and EU member states, and to offer Kosovo's experience from the return process, rehabilitation programmes and reintegration.
For their part, the delegation from the European Union has praised Kosovo in the action to return citizens from the conflict zone, the results achieved generally in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism, and co-operation with the European Union and its member states.
