The European Commissioner for Enlargement warned all elected officials in Bosnia not to deny genocide in Srebrenica and all other acts of international courts.
Johannes Hahn, responding to one of the parliamentary questions, said the final <x0vend in judging Bosnian Serb criminal Radovan Karadzic closes the issue of one of the most tragic events in recent European history.
The European Commission regularly highlights in communication with BiH political leaders that they should be an example in respecting the decisions of international courts. We stress that they should refrain from any declaration or actions that might question the independence of the process and that they should avoid and condemn any initiative that could increase tensions “, Hahn said.
He answered the question by European Parliament's late composition MP Christian Dan Prede, who warned of the continued efforts of some Republika Srpska officials who deny genocide in Srebrenica and defend convicted war criminals.
“In our communication, but even in documents, it is clearly said that there is no room in the EU for those who use rhetoric to spread passion, and especially for those who praise condemned war criminals everywhere. All states should engage and show this in words and in part that they are determined to overcome the past by working to reconcile and resolve open issues in this area long before entering the EU”, Hahn said.
