Here's the full announcement:
Today, at the hearing session at Italy's Parliamentary Chamber of Foreign Affairs Commission, led by President Martha Grande, I, along with Ambassador Alma Lama, deputy Ms. Mejidi Mjaku-Topali, Mrs. Saranda Buguyevci and Mrs. Vasfije Krasniqi-Goodman, the survivor of sexual violence during the war in Kosovo, unveiled our request for punishment of war crimes exercised by the Serb side in Kosovo, specifically using sexual violence as a means of war and putting justice in the country.
Serbia set out 20 years ago to strip us of human dignity by carrying out a vicious campaign of sexual rape with the aim of ethnic cleansing of Albanians from Kosovo.
The consequences of war have made it very difficult to return to normal. War has not only affected interethnic ties. It has divided communities too. Using rape as a means of war has been intended to make war last forever.
I've met hundreds of men and women who survived sexual violence. Their painful recovery is still alive, from which they still suffer from bodily injuries and severe symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder.
The only way to help these women and men to live on after the horrors of war is justice.
We need the help of the international community to ensure lasting peace./ P ERISCOPI/
