June deadline for implementation of agreements signed by two governments in Pec

The second co-ordination meeting between the Government of Kosovo and Albania has been held in Tirana, regarding agreements signed at the meeting of two Governments held in Pec.

It has become known at this meeting that June will be the deadline for implementing the agreements reached.

The meeting has discussed agreements reached in Pec in November, such as the agreement on opening joint border crossings between the two states.

Kosovo National Co-ordinator and Deputy Prime Minister Fatmir Limaj said two relevant delegations have been invited to make contributions through discussion and analyse the results achieved so far, as well as the challenges of implementing signed agreements.

He has said that co-ordinating activities on both sides and real approach will guarantee implementation of agreements between our two countries.

This co-ordinating meeting is aimed at addressing issues identified by the first meeting, which means that the discussion today will be guided to challenges requiring concrete action by the implementing organs with easy access to timely response. We consider that co-ordinating activities on both sides will guarantee you implementation of these agreements between our two governments. What I can say with pleasure today, out of four agreements we have reached at the gathering of two Governments in Pec has had some progress, to seize the opportunity to see where we are with the four signed agreements. Just as we have done a June tayming will be the deadline for implementation and implementation of the agreements reached in Pec”, Limaj said.

Limaj said the ministries of both states will tell of the challenges they have, to then report to the prime ministers -- the Kosovo and Albanian -- to eliminate those obstacles.

He said Kosovo- Albania has moved to another phase, where he said that as a group, it is responsible that, just as the pledge that is signed must be implemented overall.

Meanwhile, Albania's deputy prime minister, Erion Brace, said that since the first joint meeting of the two governments where the basic strategic partnership document between the two states has been signed has been passed by the fulfillment of the legal framework, the approach of legislation between the two states and the implementation of reached agreements.

“with Kosovo, as well as with the other four Western Balkan countries, we are working hard towards creating a common economic zone, an area where the legislation of our countries facilitates trade, free movement of people, goods and at the same time, is related to EU legislation. In this direction through the co-ordination and diplomatic political stake of our two countries that we achieved after more than a year of efforts to sign in March of this year, a regional agreement for roaming, which will have the real effect on telephone fees starting as of July 1st of this year. Also, only on the two-way level with Kosovo do we have an agreement on easing the roting tariffs, compliance between these two agreements will be discussed today”, he said.

As for the agreement to open common border crossing points, he said it is a complex issue but, according to him, if it is done, can be achieved.

“In the function of opening our markets we've been working closely in recent months on removing the difficulties past in time at the time of crossing the borders of human mobility. But removing the barriers to border crossing also has an important aspect of security, both regional and European national. Border management is a complex issue, almost a challenge in itself, but if we co-operate and co-ordinate matters between our own structures, the challenge becomes much more manageable. We aim to realise integrated management of borders through joint border crossing points for conducting joint border control activities”, he said.
