The reason for this reaction has been a yesterday's writing of the Belgrade newspaper “Blic”, under which the US and Germany allegedly differ in their positions on Kosovo.
Ambassadors in the joint response, as presented today “blic”, have cited general points of reconciliation in politics towards Kosovo such as the removal of the tax on Serbian and Bosnia and Herzegovina goods, return to the dialogue table, and avoiding provocations and reaching the comprehensive agreement between the two countries.
This is the text of American Ambassador Scott and German Schieb response:
“The article that you published on the first page of Bliciti was on April 5th trying to show serious disagreement between the United States of America and Germany over politics in the Balkans.
This thing is far from true.
Both the US and Germany continue to support the EU-mediated dialogue. We are committed to the goal of reaching the comprehensive and legally binding agreement for normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia and applicable to contribute to regional stability.
We are of reconciliation that both sides must make efforts to remove obstacles, avoid mutual provocations and return to negotiations with readiness to reach agreements.
In that sense, the US and Germany think that Kosovo should remove the tax on goods of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, are determined to further give support to efforts leading to dialogue, reconciliation and friendly relations between all Western Balkan countries”, highlighted in the joint response signed by Scheeb and Scott ambassadors.
