AAK Deputy Chairman and MP Muharrem Nitaj has said that the 100 per cent tax on Serbian and Bosnian products will not be lifted during the week. He said that such an action would be taken either Monday or Tuesday. Ramush Haradinaj's condition for tax removal is the recognition of Kosovo from Serbia.
AAKA officials are convinced there will be no government's quick decision to lift the tax on Serbian and Bosnian products, despite international demands to do so.
AAKA deputy chairman Muharrem Nitaj has said there is consensus not to write down the tax. Against such an act is Ramush Haradinaj, who has conditioned the removal of the tax with the recognition of Kosovo from Serbia.
There is no decision for either Monday or Tuesday, the tax decision is for the government and the prime minister. I personally think the decision has been fair and Kosovo should be consistent if it doesn't suspend the removal of the target”, Nitaj said, for Express.
This time again, Nitaj has said that the tax cannot be viewed as irritability with internationals or Americans.
They're partners and friends beyond compare. I hope they'll have more understanding of our insistence not to write off tax”, he added.
American and European officials have requested tax removal. Even the chief of the American Embassy in Pristina, Pilip Costett, has said the tax should be lifted immediately. He has warned the ire of Kosovo reports - The U.S. if the tax doesn't go off. Requesting that Americans have also had EU leaders.
But, Muharrem Nitaj says they must convince Kosovo allies that the tax has been imposed by Serbia and it was not Kosovo's wish to make such a decision.
“The government and the leadership think they are tasked to prove to the Allied states that the tax is inflated due to the political and diplomatic aggression Serbia is doing against Kosovo”, he added.
Ramush Haradinaj had imposed the tax on co-ordination with Kadri Veselin of Enver Hoxhaj. These two were credited with why the tariff against Serbia had gone to 100 per cent, not as Haradinaj had demanded of the 30 per cent measure.
The Government's decision was made after the government's Sparks List was removed, which had remained with 49 deputies.
Ramush Haradinaj and other AAKA officials have said the tax is not lifted without recognition from Serbia. They have left open the possibility of going to the elections but not lifting the tax. That stance is also supported by Fatmir Limaj, Albin Kurti and Shpend Ahmeti.
And, The PDK and the president have requested tax removal. Kadri Wessel has proposed suspending the tax for 120 days until there is movement in dialogue.
