After the end of the meeting, it became known that 911 individuals have applied to recognise status, while 195 persons have been recognised as victims of sexual violence.
The chairman of the Commission for Human Rights, Gender Equality, for Ungenerated Persons and Petitions, Duda Balje, has been informed of what the government Commission has done to recognise and verify the status of violent persons during the war in the first year of work.
According to her, it would be very important that as soon as a database is created, and it becomes known that the privacy of those who want to get that status is high. She said that as a member of the commission they have offered support when it is known that the topic is quite sensitive.
It's a very sensitive issue and we're going to do both as a commission maybe more to sensationalise women for this job... We as a human rights commission are very important we then and a basic date for Kosovo, which we can use both in Kosovo and outside Kosovo”, she noted.
Minire Begaj, chairman of the government Commission for recognition and verification of the status of persons raped during the recent war in Kosovo, said the work being done on this commission would help access justice.
It has clarified that by now it has accepted 911 apps, which are recognised to 195 people who enjoy retirement of 230 euros.
We're trying to make the case as soon as we do, but to remember that the only number we hold over three times or five times is taking the time, but we consider it best to take the time and be sure of what we manage as proof and application for the only reason not to do it unjustly, is a time that we're taking but are still objective and honest in this case... due to the moment of application at the level we've had 911 applications, from them we've known the status of the violent persons during the 195th of the war, except for the majority of their pension of 230 euros. We also have a rejected number, but the parties when they made the first decision have the right to review the commission, whether any new evidence or they consider that we have wronged them”, Begaj said.
According to her, it is very important that society and victims become as sensitive as possible through various awareness campaigns.
The purpose of the meeting was to co-operate, why not have a awareness campaign, a social awareness to say about this part because the appointed people's much to help with this process, even though we don't mean that we haven't done in the past, but it has to increase the issue of sensibility, the different campaign to offer to push for an applicant for reasons that it's guaranteed by law, and if those victims have then experienced a crime to apply and then take first recognition of the status, then the pension has said.
Otherwise, the process of recognising and verifying the status of persons violated during the recent war in Kosovo has started early February last year, through which sexually violated persons gain the right to receive a pension of 230 euros. /B. Ibishi/
