Numerous citizens, members of civil society, political activists have marched to seek justice on the anniversary of the death of Vetevendosje Movement activist Astrit Dehari.
By “a people for justice”, from “square Skenderbeu” marched to the State Prosecution, where responsibility was demanded for Astri's death and new investigative process.
Vetevendosje Movement Chairman Albin Kurti said three years without justice for Astritis are too much, while stressing the need for new investigations.
Kurti, who has won the October 6th national elections, said Astrit Dehari will be a symbol of their resistance.
“There was no truth about justice, but a biased goal that has been placed a priority over actual data. A new, independent professional investigation is needed, not only for the Astrination, but also for the three-year process. Astrit drowned by the regime because he wasn't questioning her. Crime has been committed over Astrin since the day he was arrested”, he said.
On behalf of the Dehari family, Destan Dehari also sought justice for Astrit Deharin. From civil society, Rzese Hoxha called for investigation and dismissal of all persons responsible for the Dehar case, clarification of his companion's circumstances in custody, Naser Makolli, and parliamentary investigative commission in the next legislature to address the case.
Professor at the Faculty of Medicine Hatage Pupovci, citing Astrit Dehari's contribution, said his death would remain a black spot for the justice system.
“Against Astrit has not only been committed crime in the murder, but also distorted in murder. Astri's death will be a black spot for the justice system”, Pupovci said.
Astrit Dehari was initially arrested as suspected of attacking Kosovo's Parliament along with several other members of the Vetevendosje Movement.
He died while in custody in Prizren prison. The case of members of the Vetevendosje Movement has turned into retrial, but the date has not yet been set.
Astrit Dehar's family lawyer, Tome Gashi, has yesterday announced through a post in Facebook that he has asked the Kosovo Special Prosecutor to issue a ruling on the development of investigations in terms of the discovery of suicide Movement activists.
He has also demanded that all of the subject documents that were sent to the Swiss Institute of Legal Medicine in Lozanne, which has come to a conclusion in the 58-page report, that the odds are small for Dehar to have killed himself in prison.
It also says that DNA tests conducted at the Swiss Institute's laboratory have released a DNA profile of the deceased, even though Kosovo experts have reportedly contained little or very little DNA.
We have doubts about the circumstances of Astrit Dehar's death. In fact, the hypothesis of an Astrit Dehar suicide through the means appointed by legal doctors seems a little real and the intervention of a third person in the fatal process should be taken into account. From what was said, we appreciate that a new investigation is necessary to clarify the circumstances of Astrit Dehar's death. Our teams and our labs are available to investigators in charge of the” case, said in the report. /Kosovo pres/
