Medical staff training consisting of 45 psychologists, four psychiatrists, an epidemiologist and several general doctors who will be travelling towards Albania on the next day to provide services after the earthquake that hit Albania on Tuesday and this week.
The medical team will provide services to the earthquake-affected population, which left 50 people dead and injured hundreds more.
Kosovo Psychological Association Chairman Ilir Havolli said that the entire medical team that travels towards Albania tomorrow has experience managing such situations.
Havol: Team leaving tomorrow for Albania has experience
The reason for this meeting today is simply an informative meeting about candidates selected to offer psychiatric and psychological services in areas affected by the earthquake. We as Kosovo Psychologists' Associations in co-ordination with the Association of Psychologists of Albania and in co-ordination with Albania's psychologistal order, have provided psychological services during the 26th, 27, 28th and tomorrow's approach or organisation in organised order tomorrow. Under this organization we have psychiatrists, we have epidemiologists, we have general doctors, we have psychologists and what is more significant is that all the professionals we go to tomorrow are professionals who actually have experience from the last war in Kosovo, so we have experience in post-dramatic crisis management, post-x1 management, he said.
He announced that besides the team that will travel from Kosovo to Albania, 15 other psychologists will join.
Havol: 50 candidates will leave Pristina tomorrow
“Next to start from Pristina 50 candidates, we are 45 psychologists and other health professionals. And in Albania we have 15 other candidates or psychologists joined. Our start is 5 o'clock in the morning”, he said.
Havol stated that they will go to areas that are not yet covered with psychological services.
Havol: We've located areas where they're not covered yet.
I am a member of the emergency staff of Albania's psychologists' order, and as such, we have identified the problem areas, or areas where they are not covered. As such, we've invited candidates today who are simply aware that tomorrow we don't go on a trip, we don't go for a walk, but tomorrow we go to offer psychological services within individuals who really need to”, he said.
On Tuesday this week, Albania was hit by the earthquake, which left 50 people dead and hundreds more injured.
