Pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong are continuing today, as of 11 November, where a police official has shot a firearm at a protester who was later sent to the hospital.
Protests of the last few days, which have entered the sixth month, have been prompted by the death of a student.
Violence has gradually escalated over the 24 weeks of protests, in which Beijing is required not to interfere with Hong Kong's basic freedoms and rights, the BBC writes.
Activists have said Hong Kong's autonomy and Western-style civil liberties promised when the former British Colonel has returned to China in 1997 are disappearing over time.
Tensions have increased especially after the death of a 22-year-old student on November 8th, who has fallen from a parking garage, near the location where a police operation was under way last weekend, Periscope follows.
Police on the other hand have used tear gas, while arresting 88 people.
Protests in Hong Kong were sparked in June, when the government introduced a bill that would enable the extradition of suspects to China.
