Bloomberg announced the appointment 10 weeks before the start of the party election for presidential candidates. His big investment in democratic priorities, such as climate change and gun control, supported by a great personal fortune, could give him many votes.
The billionaire has already allocated $30m for television advertising in several states, broadcasts Kosovas.
Bloomberg was a supporter of the Democratic Party until 2001, when he joined the republics before the mayoral elections and was elected as their candidate.
He was re-elected mayor of New York in 2005. Four years later, as an independent candidate, he received a third term as New York's first man.
So far, a total of nine candidates have been nominated by the Democratic Party, and 17 continue to campaign.
The US presidential election will be held on 3 November 2020.
