Surrenders war crimes indictments against Serbs, Gjakova lacks about 76

Representatives of the Bureau for Fact collection and the documentation of war crimes in the Gjakova municipality have handed over to the Special Prosecutor today the ninth contingent of indictments against Serbs suspected of war crimes during the 1998-1999 period.

In this case it was declared that some 76 persons from the last war in Kosovo lack this municipality.

Weekend Hoda, leader of the civil society group for the municipality of Gjakova, has said that so far they have handed over 1,000 indictments. He has expressed optimism that these cases will dawn.

I don't doubt it, I don't doubt it. For the very fact that Serbs are being banned on the 6th of January coming under pilgrims' clothing, being denied access to the Gjakova municipality, this is evidence that something is happening here”, Hoda said.

Recently, this group has also published a book petition “We do not forget about the 1998-1999 fight in Kosovo, in which photos of war crimes data have been attached to Gjakova. Hoda has said that through this petition they have also asked international institutions to take more seriously the fate of found persons.

“> in the Gjakova municipality is roughly missing 76 people, 36 or 37 are of the town of Gjakova. Last week we've made a petition book, this book that you see, we've included pictures of the crimes that happened in the Gjakova municipality, city destruction, monuments and houses, deportations, physical beatings, all the material and physical damage that happened in the municipality, we've described in this book, and we've sent it to human rights personnel in Strasbourg, at the same time to The Hague Court, Special Court and Secretary of the United States<1>, Hoda said.

Activist Sanije Berisha has indicated that the case has become white for her son, and this has prompted her to deal with other cases of undiscovered persons.

And I'm very happy that I seem to be able to do something for these guys, that for my son I did something, what I did, to get these criminals, Serbs what they did, especially in Gjakova”, Berisha said.

Representatives of this office have appealed for each municipality to act as Gjakova in order to whitewash war crimes cases that occurred in Kosovo during 1998-1999.
