The launch of interviews by former Kosovo Liberation Army fighters by the Specialised Prosecutor in The Hague has prompted reactions of political leaders in Kosovo, who have also cited the possibility of holding early parliamentary elections.

Finally, the chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Isa Mustafa and the president of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Kadri Veselini, have argued about the Special Court and the elections.

Wessel, who is at the same time head of the Kosovo Assembly, asked the opposition parties two days ago, especially from the LDK, “not to rub hands for elections with the launch of interview by the Specialised Prosecutor of several former KLA leaders, who are now in PDK.

And Mustafa had, in response, told Wessel to act as head of his party and of the Kosovo Parliament, not as the “chief of the SHIK” and that, according to him, if someone has committed crimes “he should rub his hands”.

These statements, according to connoisseurs of political issues in the country, are common after being made for domestic political consumption and that according to them, the Special Court has an impact on political developments in the country.
Valmir Ismaili from “Democracy Plus” has told the Life Journal in Kosovo that Veselin and Mustaf's statements are for internal everyday consumption. Such statements are used to hearing often in certain cases between PDK and LDK officials, he said.

“PDK through its people often alludes to the LDK that has contributed to the creation of files for former KLA soldiers on the other side The LDK has hinted that PDK people have eliminated several post-war LDK figures”, he added.

Ismaili adds, however, that these accusations and counteraccus have not prevented these two subjects from co-governing for years.

“in this context, even current statements should be taken as statements for domestic public consumption”, he stressed.

Meanwhile, Eugen Cakoli, a researcher at the Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI), says that with the launch of the first calls for an interview by the Special Court, there has been an activism of opposition parties, in particular the LDK.

The “Since the adoption of legal acts that paved the way for the creation of specialised rooms, it has been clear that in addition to the damage to the external plan, this institution would have extremely negative impact on political stability in the country, respectively, on the functioning of political parties, especially those derived from the war. With the launch of the first calls for special interviewing, we have had an activism of opposition parties, in particular of the LDK, which have attempted to use the political moment to provoke new elections”, Calcoli stressed for the JCK Journal.

He estimates that statements between the PDK and the LDK on this subject should be seen more as part of the daily political struggle between position and opposition.

“When, if this process is seen from a more general political perspective, it is clear that the ruling parties do not preempt elections on the threat of special development, because it would harm parties in general, but also their relations with the international community in particular”, he added.

Current political processes face opportunity for new elections

The country's going to new elections, according to analysts, could happen as a result of political calculations on the topic of Kosovo-Serbia dialogue and customs duties imposed on products of Serbia and Bosnia, rather than the Special Court may have influence.

KDI researcher Eugen Cakoli says going to extraordinary elections due to specials in the present period poses numerous risks for the period following the creation of new institutions, “, when we could potentially have pre-<x1).

Therefore, I consider that the eventual going to the extraordinary elections will likely be the result of the ruling political parties' calculations on the topic of dialogue or tax, rather than on the Special Court”, he told JNK.

And Valmir Ismaili (D+) estimates that the Special Court cannot promote early elections.

The Special Court's case has begun much earlier, and it has been a matter of time when it will start on occasion, so under these circumstances, the Special Court cannot be the cause of the” elections, he told JNK.

According to Ismaili, the elections could happen because of Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj's determination not to remove the tax on Serbian goods.
“If other ruling coalition partners find it reasonable to suspend the tax according to US recommendations, then it is likely they, along with the opposition, will provoke early elections”, he praised.

The Special Court was formed after its majority approval by Kosovo Parliament deputies in 2015, while investigating crimes allegedly committed by former Kosovo Liberation Army fighters during the recent war in the country.

The special in December 2018 has sent invitations to former KLA participants for interviews in The Hague, while this beginning has so far been interviewed Rrustem Mustafa and Sami Lushtaku. /Cashho. com
