At the 5th ambassadorial conference that has started works today, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has spoken about dialogue with the Serbian state in Brussels and the European Union's mediation.
He has said there will be no partition of Kosovo, no exchange of territory, and there will be no Serb republic in Kosovo.
We should use this moment and solve problems, peace between Kosovo and Serbia. It will not be easy at all, but it is the only way forward. There will be no partition, no exchange, and we will not allow the Serb republic in Kosovo to have”, he said.
The president has said that any final agreement with Serbia will be the way it is acceptable to the US and Brussels.
“Final Kosovo- Serbia will not change. Every step of ours will be co-ordinated with Brussels and the US. We will sign an agreement with Serbia only if it is acceptable to the US and Brussels. Shutting down the dialogue process would pave a new way for Kosovo diplomacy”, he said.
Moreover, the country's leader stressed that Kosovo has made significant steps in its consolidation, but to continue on, some injuries must be closed.
The “at the London summit became known that Western Balkan countries will enter the EU only when they choose their own problems. This was a clear message for all Western Balkan countries to solve their problems. We want to build good relations even with Serbia”, he said.
He said the agreement with Serbia only makes sense if in the end Kosovo is recognised by Serbia.
“has not been easy to demarcation of the border with Montenegro, nor with Macedonia. It is time to open the theme of the association of Presevo, Medvegen and Bujanoc with Kosovo. As president, I have accepted the request of the Valley leaders, and I have accepted this request to present it in the talks in Brussels. At the end of this process, we see Kosovo as a recognised state by Serbia, I am stressing that the agreement with the Serbian state that is very difficult makes sense only if Kosovo is recognised by Serbia and membership”, he said.
Foreign Affairs Minister Behgjet Pacolli has talked about the final phase of dialogue with the Serbian state, where he has said Serbia should recognise Kosovo.
“Kosovo's main challenge now is the agreement with our neighbour, the agreements we have reached so far are made by the talks. But when it ends, this key agreement, expected only with talks, will be limited to topics and mandates. The main theme Kosovo should be recognised by Serbia. Kosovo must join the EU. Will it be demarcation of the border, or there will be correction. But one thing we know is that Kosovo has no territory to forgive anyone, Kosovo has declared independence with these borders it has. In any dialogue should not be forgotten that Kosovo is state”, he has said.
