Pristina Education Director Jonuz Saliha says teaching starts after two weeks at this school
September 3rd marks the opening of school doors for the new school year.
But this year students from lower high school “Elena Gjika” will not have their first class day on Monday.
In this school, due to the renovation of the facility, it will be postponed for several days to launch the learning process.
The education director in the Pristina municipality, Jonuz Saliha, points out the reasons for delays in the work of this school.
This school, which is one of the oldest in Pristina, is included on the list of cultural heritage monuments, so the renovation has also been conditional on the preservation of external appearance.
As far as other schools in Pristina are concerned, Saliha says they have challenges in what function in the centre because of the large number of students.
The capital faces difficulties in education because of bringing in each year from other municipalities. Pristina manages with over 70 pre-school education institutions. Infrastructural aspect remains one of the priorities government in Pristina has promised this mandate as well. So far, only a new school in the neighbourhood “Arberia” is being built and opened on September 3rd.
