The United Nations encourages Pristina and Belgrade to talk about proposals made for changing borders or territories.
Fahran Haq, deputy press spokeswoman of the Secretary General, questioned by Deutsche Welle in New York, said: “we don't have any official statements to make. But we support any kind of discussion between Pristina and Belgrade, which deals with the Kosovo status issue, and we encourage the parties to discuss this matter”.
The United Nations is not involved in this process.
We are not involved in this phase. This is a process run by the European Union, and we encourage talks between Pristina and Belgrade on the issue”, Haq stressed.
He made no comment on President Thaci's statements on restructuring borders.
These discussions should have to take sides”, he said.
It is this first time since the UN accepted a solution to the Kosovo issue that could affect borders. So far, touching borders has not existed as a solution.
