Tourists marvel at Rosafa Castle, over 58 thousand visitors for 6 months (FOTO)

This year's tourist season has marked a significant increase in tourists in cultural monuments across the country.

The Rosafa fortress in Shkodra, an attractive place where history, architecture, ideal landscapes are perfectly intertwined, are increasingly awe - inspiring foreign and local tourists.

The number of visitors is growing in this tourist attraction, which in addition to beauty holds the mystery of Rosafa's history.

The Shkodra fortress in January-July 2018 has been visited by 58,241 tourists, of whom 16,105 benefited from free entrances in days set by the Ministry of Culture. During this year there has been a significant increase in visitors, compared to the same period last year, where the fortress was visited by 22,823 tourists.

The tower of Rosaphas rises on a rocky hill west of the city, surrounded by the waters of the three rivers - Drin, Buna, and Cyrus. Rosafa Castle is the most ancient historical monument.

In the fence walls, constructions of four periods are clearly seen: Balshaw (C. Ocean Blvd. 12 / 15 X coordinate V I-XVII), and Busatlins (C. X coordinate VIII-XIX).

Built throughout the Imperial Kingdom, it is represented by a legend of keeping a promise, of the legendary bride.

As a fortified relief center, it is first mentioned during the reign of King Ilr Gent. The castle appears by the name Rosapha in the Middle Ages, during which it was conquered by the Slavs and sometimes by Byzantines.

Within its walls are stored a series of facilities such as garrisons, warehouses, an administrative building, etc. The interior surface is divided by the walls of three yards, with gates between them.

Other items of great cultural value that tell a lot about the past stories of our people are the water tankers of the century. XV, century cathedral X coordinate III, who after the Ottoman conquest returned to the mosque. The Rosaphas Museum, which explains the different periods of the castle, is similar.
