He added that the ruler should not reject any proposals.
According to the Serbian news agency Tanjug, which has been interviewing him, Petritsch has shown surprise why no one sees problems in establishing borders between Slovenia and Croatia, while opposing the pattern similar to Kosovo, broadcast Koha.net.
The “would commemorate that the arbitration decision says that some Croatian villages in Slovenia pass to Croatia. The highly criticised ethnic principle has gone through here without criticism”, Petrisch stressed and added that if for practical reasons the border needs correction and if this correction brings more security and peace, then it has to do so.
“We from the EU have always told countries in the region that they have to find solutions on their own and that we can only help you find difficult compromises. Now it is clear that the occasion is for finding compromise between Belgrade and Pristina”, he has said.
Petritsch has stressed that it is good to develop a small regional plan for economic development, respectively, for the economic zone that would include border regions between Kosovo and Serbia.
He has commemorated that resolving the Kosovo issue would be a major step for Serbia in terms of EU membership, but also for Kosovo, because both sides could be committed to membership in the European Union.
