It's an honor to have you here. We were at the Pentagon and tried to explain our history, our achievements. But your coming to Kosovo is the case that you see our achievements in the near future. Kosovo is a partner of the US”, so said Republic of Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj after meeting General Joseph L. Langyel, head of the National Guard Bureau and member of the Joint Staff of the United States of America.
The recent economic and political developments were part of the discussion at this meeting.
Prime Minister Haradinaj announced General Langyel's progress in marking the Republic of Kosovo, for the priorities of the Government of Kosovo, for pro-Western and Euro-Atlantic orientation and for the KSF transition process in the Armed Forces.
“We are grateful to the United States for the assistance provided so far on our way to freedom and the peace-building process. Whatever has been achieved in Kosovo is a joint job. We are optimistic about our achievements and orientation” said Prime Minister Haradinaj, seeking further US support in the process of transitioning the Kosovo Security Force to the Armed Forces, this transformation that would contribute stability in the country and the region.
Prime Minister Haradinaj said the Kosovo Security Force is a professional and multiethnic force involving all communities living in Kosovo and willing to contribute to missions abroad as well.
Kosovo is home to all. We have done good work within the KSF by adopting professional standards, including minorities, and co-ordinating our actions in partnership with our allies”, Prime Minister Haradinaj said, adding that Kosovo from absorption of security has now become a factor of stability, being co-operative in all regional Western Balkan initiatives and is willing to turn into a security provider in NATO missions in the world.
“We have worked hard to get to this stage, to be ready to become partners and to establish bilateral relations even in the field of security”, has added Prime Minister Haradinaj.
For his part, the head of the National Guard Bureau and a member of the United States Joint Staff, General Joseph L. Langyel, praised the progress achieved in Kosovo and the Kosovo Security Force, saying the US will continue to support Kosovo.
At this meeting, Prime Minister Haradinaj honoured General Langyel with the map of Kosovo, as a sign of respect and honour for his and the US's contribution to Kosovo's affairs.
Part of this meeting were Kosovo Security Force Minister Rrustem Berisha, KSF Commander Lieutenant General Beftman Rama and US Ambassador to Kosovo Greg Delaway.
