A SK: Over 60,000 hectares of agricultural land remain in Kosovo during 2025

Kosovo Statistics Agency (ASK) has published the results of the Agricultural Economics Survey (AEB) for 2025, which shows a slight increase in both the country's exploited farmland and the number of animal livestock.
According to data, the total area used for agricultural land in 2025 increased by 510,90 hectares, or 0.1%, compared to 2024.
Light growth has also been observed in the common lands, where meadows and grasslands (including the common land) have reached 216,697,39 hectares, from 216,534,33 hectares in the preceding year. According to the AKS, this increase also relates to increased livestock.
Arable land ) fields account for 45% of the agricultural surface, while gardens occupy 0.2%. In all, the arable land in 2025 was 189,111,22 hectares, with much making up cereals of 128,190,63 hectares (67.8%), followed by food plants with 36,446,35 hectares (19.3%).
Other surfaces include vegetables of 9,841.44 hectares, potatoes with 3,375.16 hectares, legumes of 2,257.45 hectares, industrial plants of 1,254,60 hectares, other cultures of 2,556,27 hectares, and land of the desert of 6,104,38 hectares.
During 2025, the watered area at least once has been 34,240,28 hectares, while the area covered by pesticides has reached 123,045,50 hectares.
As for the livestock, ASK reports slight growth of the livestock fund. The number of cattle in 2025 was 241,423, up from 240,848 in 2024.
The increase is also noted in sheep, which in 2025 reached 211,178 leaders, compared with 209,947 in the preceding year.
According to the AKS, data shows a stability with slight growth in the agricultural and livestock sector in Kosovo during 2025.
