While Europe is caught by a wave of heat, weather forecasters say the record of all time can be broken in the coming days.
The current record in Europe is 48 degrees Celsius, registered in Athens in July 1977.
The temperatures are on the rise in Spain and Portugal and weather forecasters say they can continue to grow, breaking national records and record 41-year in Europe.
The national meteorological service in Spain issued a warning at least until Sunday, saying the heat wave would be the particularly strong and sustainable “in southwest”.
The weather warning group in Europe, Meteolalarm, issued red warnings that imply life risks, much of southern Portugal, and the province of Badayiz in Spain.
