At least 37 people are dead today in the 7.0 magnitude earthquake. That hit Indonesia's resort island, Lombok.
So stated the head of the agency for disaster cases in Indonesia, Hyi Rum.
The powerful quake caused panic among tourists and residents as it felt in Bali, CNN writes.
In Lombok, however, thousands of residents left their homes to gather in open spaces.
Minister of Justice and Home Affairs of Singapore K. Shanmugam, who was on Lombok Island at the time of the earthquake, wrote on Facebook that his room on the 10th floor of the hotel cracked the walls.
It was completely impossible to get up. I heard noise”, he wrote.
This is the second earthquake in Indonesia in the last week alone. Earlier, a 6.4 quake earthquake left 14 people dead and blocked hundreds of Alpinists on the slopes of a volcano.
