US Secretary for Agriculture Sonny Perdue announced that this amount would be awarded farmers in trouble from “payback for illegal tariffs”, starting with Soybeans, swine, fruit, rice and milk producers.
The latter have been targeted in recent months by customs duties imposed by US business partners, who decided to respond to American customs taxes on steel, aluminum or taxes on tens of billions of Chinese imports.
Sonny Perdue said these subsidies are a short-term solution, while we remain waiting for negotiations to be concluded with a long-term trade deal.
