President Donald Trump announced the intention to appoint diplomat Philip S. Costnett from Virginia, as the extraordinary and almighty ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Kosovo, according to the White House.
Kosnett is currently busy with early work at the US Embassy in Ankara.
During his career in the Foreign Service, he has worked on eight missions in the United States in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, as well as at senior leadership positions in the State Department.
Most of Mr. Costnet's career has been focused on international security co-operation and political reconciliation.
He has served as Deputy Mission in Uzbekistan and Iceland; as well as in political, military- and economic positions in Afghanistan, Iraq, Kosovo, the Netherlands and Japan.
In Washington he worked at State Department offices for Europe, Counter-Terrorism, Political-military, Intelligence and Research, etc.
Costet graduated from Harvard University. He has been honoured at 10 State Department awards, received the Medal of the Office of Foreign Civil Service Protection, and the Medal of High Civil Service Infantry.
Kosnet speaks Turkish, Russian, Dutch and Japanese. / VOA/
