Reactions to imam insulting the Prizren music festival: It's a cow in the fort

In two Facebook posts, Imam Berisha has said that “is cocking a cow in Kala” and that “is terrorising 70 percent of Prizren's town”.

In the second post, the imam says that there may be a terrorist attack on the cause of the noise and that the performer is extending the invitation for that to happen.

You're going to stop the noise of who's doing a terrorist act! That we just miss the tea. That this cow is extending an invitation to such a”, Berisha wrote.

To these calls, the director of the Kosovo Democratic Institute, Ismet Kryeziu, who has said that the positions of imam Berisha, who is also chairman of the Islamic Community Council in Prizren, are not a comfort of the task of a religious preacher who must promote peace and tolerance.

The Islamic Community of Prizren's “Hoja of the Islamic Community offends and threatens with the terrorist act NGOM Fest, as well as our children who attended the concert. From today, until it remains in the position of the chairman of the Islamic Community Council in Prizren, Besim Berisha, will interrupt my family's annual contribution to BIK, in the sign of revolts against his hateful discours distributed in his Facebook” profile, Kryeziu has said that Berisha's communication has taken on promotional and threatening campaign characters.

Besim Berisha's stances are not comfortable the task of a religious preacher who should promote peace and tolerance. Rather than approach it and communication with citizens, he has taken on characters of the promotional, threatening, insulting, hateful and divisive campaign. The 2 days' deadlines in his Facebook profile should not be approved by members of the Muslim community, and much less by the Islamic Community management”, Kryeziu wrote.

A clergyman who, with his statements threatening terrorist acts, insults and incites interhuman hatred should not be leading a religious community. Therefore, all leaders of Islamic faith should refuse to pay taxes to BIK, until the dismissal of Imam Besim Berisha”, he wrote.

The Prizren needs a KBI chairman who cultivates inter-civil and interreligious harmony, but not Imam Besim Berisha, who with his discour causes distrust and hatred. Fellow citizens of Prizren, read the position of KBI chairman, and appreciate what public discours are promoting the first Muslim religion in Prizren”.

This is the seventh edition of the music festival “Ngom Fest” and, for the second year, returns to Prizren Fortress.

As is the tradition of this festival, there was hip-hop music on the first night. The second night was marked by rock music, while last night scenes will be electrocuted with electronic music.

For three days, various local and international bends have been part of the festival, which is held 6 July to 9 July.
