Political party leaders no longer unite civil society

Civil society has failed to bring together political party leaders to discuss the process of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia. Only representatives of political subjects attended the table, Vetevendosje did not attend.

This had upset the largest opposition LDK party. The deputy chairman of this subject, Lutfi Haziri, has accused the ruling parties of inconsiderate, irresponsibleness and improper behaviour in the face of a very important process, such as dialogue with Serbia.

He is launching the meeting in half, has said the only organ in which could be talked about such an important process is the Assembly of Kosovo.

For this, Haziri has said that they have decided as LDK to set three criteria and will not participate in such discussions anymore, until this issue is discussed in the Assembly, where it belongs.

“We have set three criteria from May 24th for this important political process for the country. The only political mechanism and means to solve problems is dialogue, we need to stick to this political tool, but we need to act responsibly. Even today it was seen, on this table, the way of representation was seen, the way they ignore the opposition's participation on the table clearly shows that we have no space, we can't continue, we return to our internal affairs as a political party, and of course we expect to be pushed where it belongs, and this is the Parliament of Kosovo. Until then we see what results this whole public debate is being organised” can bring, Haziri said.

Haziri charged The AAK's PDK, like two parties that all day talk about consensus, while on the other side work to destroy it.

“Of course we gave up our positions and released it, they are not interested in hearing political statements, only declarative positions of consensus, as everything is working to undermine consensus, not to practice consensus and exclude consensus as a political tool. Today's show clearly that the PDK and AAK as the two main parties governing and carrying institutions should radically change the way they behave towards the opposition and the LDK, as the largest political party in the country and in the public”, Haziri said.

After the end of the meeting, the deputy chairman PDK, Enver Hoxhaj, confirmed the differences between political parties for the dialogue process, why, according to him, all are for dialogue.

The “of course there are differences about how far political subjects are concerned, but what is best possible in such a process is that all of them are for dialogue and all see dialogue as a means to normalise relations with Serbia, and the expectation of all political parties, or political subjects, as well as our subject is that the two criteria measuring the end of this process are mutual recognition and Kosovo's membership in the UN. We have a very new moment in the region since after addressing the name issue between Skopje and Athens, there is international attention, there is a timetable for this process to be completed, and there is also an interest of our Western partners, European and American partners to help Kosovo end its citizenship”, Hoxhaj said.

Number two The PDK hopes that in the near future there will be full reconciliation between coalition partners as well as the opposition, of how to engage in dialogue, and of beyond the structural differences in dialogue to concentrate and epilogue dialogue.

And that would be a binding legal agreement, which for those as a party said there is only one name, mutual recognition.

Hoxhaj also answered journalists' questions about the criticism of the LDK, about representation in dialogue, and the fact that the leaders' table today had not come to party leaders, but only their deputy leaders.

“Z. Wessel and Haradinaj have been with other agendas and we have been represented at the level of the deputy head of all political parties, and our aim is to reach a full consensus between political parties for dialogue and because of what has had many differences at the end of the process will be a situation where political parties in Government, but also those in opposition will be together in such a process. Beyond how we view dialogue in Kosovo, there is a complex international context. We have had a first meeting about how to get away and have confidence that all political subjects as in the government as in the opposition will be serious in such processes”, Hoxhaj has said.

While the PSD's Shpend Ahmeti has called this meeting unsuccessful because it lacked the leaders of the major parties, while the Unity Team says it is not a case.

He has declared that leaders cannot even meet to discuss the possibilities for how to move forward, much less to reach agreements. The political indiscriminately called it the lack of leaders.

Ahmeti has reiterated the meeting, as he says, and even after the meeting, which requires that the Parliament be the bearer of dialogue, a supervisory commission be established and the mandate be with 2/3 of the Parliament where the platforms for dialogue will be voted.

It estimates that no one's positions -- the Government, the Presidency, political subjects that are in the coalition, nor the positions of the opposition.

The meeting was envisioned for political party leaders to attend, but none of them participated, except PSD chairman Shpend Ahmeti.
